City Council spent two years approving the Karman Line annexation, but now Norwood Development Group, Colorado Springs’ biggest developer, spent nearly $1.0M on out-of-state petitioners to force this $500,000 special election.
Karman Line is a solution to our decades long challenge of providing affordable housing for our military families. Sitting on the banks of the future Gary Bostrom Reservoir, Karman Line will be a hub for outdoor recreation and facilitate the creation of the third largest reservoir on the front range, adding 30,000 acre feet of water to our city’s water supply. (Hear directly from the owners of the land and this project here.)
Additionally, Karman Line will facilitate the creation of thousands of acres of parks, trails, open spaces, and the construction of the Bostrom Reservoir for our families to enjoy.
Karman Line will be a hub for outdoor recreation minutes from your neighborhoods.
City Council, Colorado Springs Utilities, and multiple independent water experts spent two years conducting public review of the Karman Line project. This extensive analysis demonstrated Colorado Springs has twice the water the city currently uses and the Karman Line project is a responsible use of our city’s water resources. Our water’s surplus is enough to serve a city the size of Fort Collins (population 170,000)(source).
Furthermore, Karman Line is set on the banks of and will facilitate the construction of the city owned Gary Bostrom Reservoir.
This body of water will be the third largest on the front range, provide thousands of acres of trails, open spaces, parks, and allow for boating and fishing while also adding over 30,000 acre-foot of water to the Colorado Spring water supply
