Pro Family

Colorado Springs is a family friendly city, and we want that to continue, not get hijacked by a single developer. People voting “Yes” on Issue 1 are pro-family. We want our neighborhoods to be safe, traffic to be manageable, taxes to stay low, and for young families to have options so they can own homes too.

Voting Yes on Issue One allows for family homes where they logically belong, adjacent to where military families work and play (and keeps it out of your backyard). This ensures that as our community grows, the character of your neighborhood doesn’t change.

Norwood Development Group (the developer who wants you to vote no) owns 85% of the land for family homes in Colorado Springs. If they get their way they will effectively have a housing monopoly, your taxes will go up, crime will soar, more multi-family housing will be built in existing neighborhoods, and our west side neighborhoods will be more prone to wildfires.

The Norwood cartel doesn’t want you to know the facts. But here they are:

Police:

Public safety is a key priority for Mayor Yemi and City Council. They approved Issue 1 after two years of careful study. Voting Yes on Issue 1 is pro-family, pro-police, and pro-fire.

Know the Facts

Fact: The Karman Line project has dedicated 40 acres to a new police training facility, an asset our community desperately needs to train more officers.
Fact: When Norwood (the cartel developer) raises housing costs, it becomes increasingly hard for police officers to afford to live here. Our first responders deserve a hsot at the American dream and to live in the neighborhoods they patrol and protect.

Supporters of Issue 1: “We need more officers and we need better training for the officers we have. I am voting Yes on Issue One to support our police department.”

Fire:

For many of our neighborhoods, the threat of wildfire is constant and real. We saw it firsthand in the Waldo Canyon and Bear Creek fires and our city is constantly inundated with red flag warnings. Voting YES allows for family homes where they make sense AND reduces the risk of dangerous development in our wildland urban interface (source).

Know the Facts

Fact: Insurance prices are out of control.
Fact: Colorado is on track to follow California’s policies and have the same insurance problems and insurers will pull out from here too, if we are not careful.
Fact: Trying to add high density and multi-family into single-family neighborhoods that don’t have the infrastructure to support it increases fire danger and is bad for our city.

Supporters of Issue 1: “We need more fire personnel, more trucks, and more funding for mitigation. Vote Yes on Issue 1 to support the fire department and smart projects, not billionaire developers.”

Traffic:

Imagine taking 15,000+ cars off the congested roads of Colorado Springs. Voting Yes on Issue 1 means less congestion and less traffic in your neighborhood.

Know the Facts

Fact: The Karman Line project is nestled between two of Colorado Springs largest employers, Peterson and Schriever.
Fact: This project will pull thousands of commuter vehicles out of the most congested streets and close to where the military and defense contractors work every day.
Fact: As of early 2025, the average motorist in Colorado Springs experiences 54 hours of delay annually due to traffic congestion.
Fact: This congestion results in an average cost of $1,268 per driver each year, accounting for lost time and wasted fuel.
Fact: When people can live near where they work, there is less pollution, less traffic, and fewer accidents.

Supporters of Issue 1: “When people get to live near where they work, there is less congestion… this is better for the environment and better for my bank account.”

Family:

Yes on Issue 1 protects families and allows for multiple generations to call Colorado Springs home. From current home owners to future home owners, our families deserve a healthy environment and to achieve the American Dream (source).

Know the Facts

Fact: Independent economists project the Karman Line project will create 25,000+ jobs, 400 acres of open space, desperately needed housing for Schriever and Peterson, and was approved by City Council and Colorado Springs Utilities after two years of study and deliberation (click to download pdf).
Fact: The Karman Line is adjacent to (and the catalyst for!) the new Gary Bostrum Reservoir (a massive new water and recreation space roughly the size of Rampart Reservoir and 600 times the size of Prospect Lake in Memorial Park!).
Fact: Under Norwood’s monopoly control, there is a 56.8% increase in the median price in family home prices. This is not good for anyone but the billionaire developer.
Fact: One developer (the Norwood cartel) controlling what’s built in your neighborhood hurts everyone. From grocery prices to home costs, to the actual quality of homes being built, everyone loses.
